In Texas, the governor is a figurehead with very few powers - with the ability to appoint individuals to boards and commissions throughout the state, such as the Board of Regents of Texas A&M. With that being the case, Gov. Rick Perry seems to be making the most of it.

Perry appointed three regents in July, and all three were major contributors to Perry's gubernatorial re-election campaign in 2006.
